Google Ads · Guide 10

A guide for those advertising on Google for the first time

When advertising on Google for the first time, opening an account and picking a few keywords is not enough. For the campaign to reach the right people — and to understand which clicks produce value — the goal, page and measurement must be set up together.

01

Write the goal before the campaign

Instead of “more customers”, define for which service, in which region and through which contact path you want enquiries. Lumping every service into one campaign weakens budget control and message match.

A phone call and an e-commerce sale require different campaigns and measurement. Success metrics should be defined before the campaign goes live.

02

Choose keywords by search intent

High search volume is not always quality traffic. Separate queries that show direct need for the service from research-oriented queries; limit irrelevant clicks with negative keywords.

Broad match used without control can send the budget to irrelevant searches. In the first period, the search terms report should be reviewed frequently.

03

Match the ad and the landing page

Whatever the ad promises should be immediately visible on the landing page. A user sent to a generic homepage has to find the service they searched for all over again. Fast mobile loading, clear scope and visible contact buttons support conversions.

In your first Google Ads process, evaluate whether a dedicated campaign page is needed based on your offer and service structure.

04

Test conversion measurement before launch

Do not start the campaign without testing that phone, WhatsApp, form or purchase events work correctly. Looking only at click counts does not show which ad brings business.

In our Google Ads campaign setup service we check tags, ad extensions and core conversion scenarios before launch.

  • Correct location and schedule
  • Negative keyword list
  • Ad copy and page alignment
  • Conversion and call measurement
  • An optimization plan for the first weeks
05

Do not judge early results in a hurry

Declaring a campaign successful or failed after a handful of clicks is misleading. Until enough data accumulates, watch search quality and technical issues; then make bid, keyword and budget decisions.

Conclusion

The bottom line

The goal of a first Google Ads campaign is not just getting traffic — it is building a measurable, improvable customer acquisition system.
